Money Savings Tip of the Day: Ewww! That could make you sick!

When's the last time you changed the filter in your fridge?  Did you know that bacteria build up in filters.  Filters should be replaced at least every 6 months.  Many don't realize that not only does a filter do a good job of taking bacteria out of your drinking water, but it also provides one of the ideal breeding grounds for bacteria to multiply.

Overtime as the filter breaks down and bacteria build up, that great filter goes from removing bacteria to producing and adding bacteria to your water.  Healthy individuals may not notice as they build immunity to the bacteria, but anyone with a compromised immune system may be at risk from drinking contaminated water. Ugh....

Best spend a few dollars on a replacement filter than much more on medical bills. Preventive maintenance is the key here.
