Money Saving Tip of the Day: Don't Tell Them That!!

One of the big things about social media is that we often put personal information out there for all to see!

Recently, I read an article that a woman's house was robbed and completely emptied costing her 10s of thousands of dollars after she announced on Facebook that she was leaving on vacation for a week! While we're excited about our upcoming adventures, telling the whole world may not be the best idea.

So, let's protect ourselves and brag about our trip afterward. If you're worried that someone might miss or worry about you if you are not posting on Facebook, Twitter or Google+, send those individuals private messages letting them know all is well but you will be out of touch for a few days.

Also, make your neighbors aware of your absence (if you trust them, that is) and leave a contact number as well as arrange for someone to check on things while you are gone. Leaving a light or two on will not zap your electric bill.
