Money Saving Tip of the Day - Ewww, gross! Don't look down

If you have a shared bathroom with more than a couple of family members, don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about. Yep, I've pointed out that nasty 2 inches at the bottom of your shower curtain. If not for the mildew build-up in the corner of the tub, the liner in our shower stall would be reason number one we put "clean bathtub" at the bottom of the chore list. But let's take the ickyness out of this putrefied mess!

1) Remove your liner

2) Toss it in your clothes washer

3) Set to hot wash

4) Throw in just a dollop of detergent & start machine

5) Read a book, drink a cup of coffee, take a nap

6) When liner is washed, remove from washer and hang in shower immediately (do not dry - I didn't try this but I can't imagine the heat of the dryer would be good on the plastic)

7) Step back and admire your back breaking work!
8) Now, back to that book...  :)

P.S. Don't forget to toss the cost of a replacement liner into the savings account!

Tip of the Day: Save While You Bathe

Want to save time and money without toxic fumes killing the few brain cells we have left?
Simply use anti-bacterial soap or natural shampoo (we couponers can get this stuff CHEAP) to clean your shower WHILE YOU'RE IN IT!!! We keep a sponge and scrub brush in the corner of the shower that I use every other day or so to wipe down the walls. Just squirt a little of your soap on the sponge or brush while you're waiting out the 2 minute conditioning session and QUICKLY wipe down the walls and fixtures. Spray or rinse clean. For the shower floor? I just squirt a little on my wash cloth or brush and wipe with my feet as I'm finishing up!
You can get the shower clean without the sweat and come out fresh as a daisy with sparkling tile. PLUS, I haven't hacked and choked over the chemicals in expensive cleaners.
Do this several times a week and you don't have to stress when mom-in-law pops in for a visit with no notice! Don't we just LOVE when she does that?

NOTE: Don't get overwhelmed with this task; as it becomes habit a few times a week, the stains and mildew will fade. Trust me it will look much better than it does from us ignoring this ugly, stinky chore. Baby steps.....
